Welcome to Origins Convo!
We're glad you're here, and we're excited to share conversations with leaders in STEAM from nontraditional backgrounds.
Welcome to Origins with Dr. Natasha Wilson! We wanted to use this post to introduce ourselves and answer some questions about who we are, what we do, and why we exist. We’re glad you’re here!
Who’s behind Origins?
We’re currently a two-person team. Dr. Natasha Wilson is the co-founder and CEO of Origins Convo. Dr. Wilson has a PhD in chemical and biochemical engineering from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) and has worked as a process engineer in the chemical industry and in a variety of educational roles, including as a leader in K12 assessments production, as a teacher, and as a tutor.
Her colleague, Stephanie Beattie, is the co-founder and COO of Origins Convo. Stephanie works behind-the-scenes and handles Origins Convo’s daily operations and content strategy. Stephanie is a writer and who has worked in book publishing, assessments, and media, and graduated from Harvard with a BA in History and Science.
Both Natasha and Stephanie post here as Origins Convo, but all interview conversations are conducted by Dr. Wilson.
Why did you start Origins?
We want to showcase great figures in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) who come from nontraditional backgrounds. We hope that these stories will be inspiring and educational, and encourage the next generation to pursue careers in STEAM as well!
So what do you post, anyway?
Primarily, we share interviews! At the start, we’re sharing these interviews once per month, but that may change as we grow.
We’ll also post shorter inspirational text, videos, and images through the Notes feature of Substack.
